Hello Friends!!
I have some very exciting news to report to you: I just found out that Recipe Rx was selected among thousands of start-ups around the world to launch to the public at the annual Tech Crunch convention September 14-15th in San Francisco! I am so excited that Tech Crunch, arguably the world’s leading authority on new Internet products and companies, considers us one of the top 150 new websites in the world for 2009! The conference will be heavily trafficked by the press, venture capitalists, and the movers and shakers in the tech world, so the opportunity to launch there will surely catapult us in the right direction. It’s being sponsored by Google, Microsoft, MySpace, Sequoia Capital, and other goliaths in the tech world (visit the site for details).
In order to guarantee a successful launch at the convention, we have some work to do in the next month. I need to raise $15,000 to finish testing the technology for bugs, build the user interfaces, create and print marketing material, and cover the costs associated with attending. If you or anyone you know may be interested in a small loan or investment to get us to the conference, please let me know. Alternately, if you are or know of a business owner who would like to sponsor Recipe Rx to attend, I will prominently place the businesses logo and description on all of my marketing materials AND on the websites homepage for the first two months of business. This could be particularly valuable to any business wanting to reach out to members of the internet and high-tech community, or a natural food/health product. Last year, there were over 1,500 attendees who each paid $4000 to be there, most of whom have a high-level of purchasing power and a platform in their industry. The exposure of launching at Tech Crunch will most certainly mean a huge spike in traffic to the site as well. The conference is exposing us to publicity from some of the biggest media outlets in the world (Wired Magazine, NYT, Wall Street Journal, etc), and an article from any one of them will surely bring the eyeballs to the site (not to mention the publicity from Tech Crunch alone). This conference truly is a place to see and be seen. Why not support Recipe Rx (written off as a business expense) and at the same time get some great recognition for your business? A win-win, if you ask me
We can make this happen!!!
Thank you in advance for your time and thoughtful consideration of this request. I look forward to catching up with many of you soon!
Camille

Howdy-do! Happy Saturday!
So yesterday I was reading about Obama’s proposed “healthcare” plan and got pretty peeved. In truth, I dont think either party has any good ideas that don’t pander directly to the people that got us here in the first place (read: pharmaceutical companies and HMO’s). I guess I am more of a conservative than I would like others to believe: I just know that the government cant fix this. We are responsible for our own personal care. It is with this in mind that I offer you the following 10 steps you can take to keep yourself healthy and out of the “health” care system entirely (barring unforseen emergencies or accidents).
Before I begin, a quick note: People are creatures of habit and positive change can be challenging. When we struggle to remain on course, its important to remember why we have make these choices. These are the reasons I have chosen to make my health a priority:
1. Freedom from illness. I believe that if a healthy individual can do the things below 80% of the time, they will be providing themselves the insurance against illness and disease. Obviously genetics are a factor as are pre-existing conditions, but doing these things gives me the peace of mind that I need not worry about cancer, diabetes, and other preventative diseases.
2. Healthy babies (and the ability to reproduce at all). It breaks my heart that so many women have trouble getting pregnant, especially as early as their 30’s. I cannot say I am surprised, with all of the toxins and nasty birth control people take, but sad none-the-less. I am almost 30 and have no plans to have children anytime soon, but I know that I want a family. The thought of being unable to have children devastates me and I am committed to keeping my body as healthy as possible for my future family. I want them to have the best shot at a lifetime of good health and parents health (especially mothers) is a huge factor in giving them that gift.
3. Good health is a means to an end and my body is my temple, my vessel. Unless its clean and operating at maximum capacity, I wont have the energy and mental clarity to pursue all of my many dreams. Life is too short to not do and become all that is in your heart and illness, disease, and overall sub-par health can stop you in your tracks.
4. It is sooooooooo much easier to STAY healthy than heal from illness. When you get sick, that is your body saying “enough is enough…you better change directions”. Depending on the illness, it can take years to heal, and some people wont. I dont want to wait until I am sick to get healthy. Too much work!
5. I want to look and feel young and alive! No over-the-counter cream or botox therapy can give you the skin and body that you can have if you commit to a lifetime of good health. Beauty comes from the inside out (physical, emotional, and spiritual). Commit to this and people will see the difference in you.
What are your reasons for getting healthy? Write them down and read them when faced with adversity.

Please witness here and now that Camille is about to eat a slice of humble pie. I wish it wasn’t the case, not because I really mind being wrong or corrected, but because I once has so much faith in our President. I still love the dude, not so much for all of his policy decisions, but more because I think he has a good heart and intentions. I wish that were all it took to be a good president, but alas…
Mr. Obama, what the hell are you thinking about this new “healthcare” plan? It is a big load of crap!!!! This article below pretty much summed it up (you can read the entire article on the site, but here is most of it). I left-out the end because the author believes that we are pretty much doomed. I would like to disagree (at least hope for a better outcome). I believe that we have ALL OF THE POWER to make positive changes in our own lives that will keep us healthy and free from disease. We need not rely on the corrupted system to keep us healthy. We make the choice with the foods we eat every day. It really is that simple. Stay tuned and tomorrow I will provide you with the 10 steps you can take towards daily health right NOW.

(NaturalNews) If you want to know why U.S. businesses increasingly outsource jobs to other countries, just add up the cost of doing business in America: As an employer, you have to pay not only higher wages than most other countries, but you also have to pay for the lost productivity and missed days due to the astonishingly poor health of the U.S. workforce.
Now, under the new Obama health care reform bill, you’ll have to pay an additional eight percent of your payroll as a new tax to cover the costs of Big Government running its new sick-care system where nobody gets healthy, but everybody gets hammered with new taxes. As a small business owner myself, I can tell you what this will cause in America: A massive shift of jobs out of the U.S. to other countries where health care costs are more reasonable (and the workers are healthier).
